2nd/Lt Leonard John Anstey 23/05/1940 aged 21
Leonard was born at Sparkford near Yeovil in June 1918, eldest son of Ernest William and Gladys Maud Anstey.
He won a United Dairies Scholarship in 1936 gaining entrance to Reading University where in 1939 he was awarded a BSc in Agriculture. He won a further scholarship enabling him to extend his studies for a further year but the war intervened and he was drafted into the British Expeditionary Force.
Leonard was with his Company sheltering under a bridge when they came under heavy German artillery fire. Unfortunately, the Company received a direct hit with a shell, and Leonard was fatally wounded.
On September 22 - 2007, Leonard’s grave was visited by his younger brother Edward Anstey (86 years old) and his wife Moiron for the first time. This was arranged by his nephew David and Paula Kelly and family.

Pte Robert Daniel Crawford Richardson 09/11/1918 aged 23
He was the eldest son of Oscar and Sarah Richardson of Dean Bank, Ferryhill, Co. Durham.
Robert was born in Crook, Co. Durham and was a coal miner.
Before he enlisted, he was a member of the St. John's Ambulance Brigade.
He is commemorated on Ferryhill War Memorial, Co. Durham.
for his great nephew Graydon Crawford Parkin (grandson of Daniel Crawford, brother of Sarah Ann Richardson)
