Spr Thomas Dunn 12/03/1916
In 1904 at Walsall Thomas married Annie Elizabeth Haywood and then resided at 32, May Street, Leamore with his wife and his three step children, one of whom, Ernest Haywood, was also killed in the war.
Thomas was accidentally killed while working in the region of Arras, the circumstances were related to his wife in a letter written by his Captain:
“He lost his life at about 3pm while doing some mining work in preparation for a gun emplacement. I was with him at the time, and we were discussing the strength of the work when, without warning, the bank collapsed, bringing down the roof and burying us. Sapper Dunn was instantly killed.”
