James joined up aged 15 years and was 16 when he was killed, 17 on the headstone is a mistake.

Spr Horace Mervyn Herrod 1891 - 08/01/1917
Horace was born in Paddington, New South Wales Australia son of Reuben Herrod (1847 - 1907) and Mathilda Hannah Herrod nee Moore (1850 - 1931), youngest of their nine children, four sons and five girls.
He enlisted 15/12/1915 in Paddington, Sydney, left Australia 11/03/1916 on the HMAT Orsova and disemarked at Alexandria on 14/04/1916.
Horace was KiA in Guillemont, France.
