James was KIA at Hill 60 .
James is at right. Left is his brother Tom Allan, who survived the war, the officer in the middle is unknown.
Their brother, Arthur John Allan is buried in Cerisy Gailly Military cemetery.
For their great nephew John Allan.
Also in memory of John's father, Captain John J. "Jack" Allan who served in the South Saskatcehwan Regiment Canadian 2nd Division during WW II. He was wounded at the Schipbeek Canal in Holland 07/04/1945.

Cpl William Edward Faultless 02/01/1889 - 29/06/1916
William was born in Walsall to Charles and Sarah Jane Faultless of 95, Farringdon Street, Walsall, his father being employed as a pudler.
He was educated at Hillary Street School and at some stage emigrated to Canada where he took employment as a sheet metal worker.
William fell victim to a sniper’s bullet when shot in the head.
A report into his death recorded:
“While on sentry duty in front line trenches near Zillebeke at 7.45 am 29/06/1916 he was hit in the head and instantly killed by an enemy rifle bullet.”

Pte Arthur Barker 10/08/1917
Arthur was born in Walsall to George and Annie Barker of 22, Newland Street, Walsall.
He was a married man with a daughter, Irene, residing with his parents.
Arthur enlisted in the Army at Walsall in 07/1916 at which time he was employed by Oakley Limited of 14, Freer Street, Walsall.
Initially serving as 366065, Northamptonshire Cycle Bn, he later transferred to The Queen’s and was killed in a bn attack.

Capt Philip Cecil Wynter 20/04/1915 aged 35
He was a member of Surrey County Cricket Club in London and is listed on their war memorial.

Lt Albert Frederick Major 03/06/1916 aged 20
He died when leading a squad up to the German line in the battle to save the salient east of Zillebeke on Obervation Ridge.
Albert was leading a small contingent of men over Observatory Ridge to the German front line when he was killed.
According to the Field Notes for that day, he and his crew penetrated furthest of all, actually reaching the German Line.

He was employed at the Denby Iron Works before to enlist in 1915, he left a widow and one child living in Belper.
He was killed by a shell.

L/Cpl William Robert Bulloch 05/09/1916 aged 19
William was an Iron Monger, he had previous service in the 41st Infantry Citizen Forces when he enlisted on the 27/07/1915.
Honour Roll:
"Bulloch. - In sad but loving memory of our dear son and brother, Lance/Cpl W. R. Bulloch, killed in action -September 5th, 1916 Aged 19, years.
He marched away so bravely,
His young head proudly held,
His footsteps never faltered.
His courage never failed.
His King and Country called him, the call was '' not in vain;
You will find our hero's name.
Inserted by his sorrowing father, mother, brothers and sisters."
