Cpl Joseph Henry Handy 14/03/1917
Joseph was born in Walsall to Edwin and Sarah Emma Handy of 21, Alma Street, Darlaston, his father being a Police Constable.
He enlisted in the Territorials in 02/1912 and was mobilised at the outbreak of war being drafted to France on Friday 05/03/1915 and was killed during a bn attack at Bucquoy, three miles east of Gommecourt.

Pte Jesse Clarence Eaton 14/03/1917
Jesse was born to Alfred and Emma Eaton of 123, Sandwell Street, Walsall and was educated at Willows House School. His father was a commercial traveller.
A keen sportsman, Jess played cricket for Walsall Cricket Club and was a noted batsman.
At the time of his enlistment in the Army at Walsall on Wednesday 01/03/1916 Jesse was employed as a clerk in the Corporation Gas Works, Pleck.
Jesse was killed during an attack against German positions at Bucquoy.

Pte Sidney Thomas Toon 14/03/1917
Both Sidney’s parents predeceased him so he lived with his aunt and uncle, Thomas and Elizabeth Toon, at ‘The Royal Oak’ public house, Lord Street, Palfrey.
An old boy of Queen Mary’s School, he was apprenticed to Overton and Company, Freer Street, Walsall when he enlisted in the Army at Walsall during 1916.
Initially serving in the Staffordshire Yeomanry, Sidney later transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment and was killed in an attack against German positions at Bucquoy.

Pte John Dace 14/03/1917
John was born in Walsall, the eldest son of Charles James and Jane Dace of 168, Wednesbury Road, Walsall, his father being a partner in the leather goods firm of Harry Whitehouse and Company Limited, Reliable Works, Green Lane, Walsall.
He was employed as a pawnbroker’s assistant and enlisted in the Army during 11/1915 after twice being rejected for service due to his eyesight.
John was killed during an attack against German positions at Bucquoy, three miles east of Gommecourt.
