|Dvr Harry Augustus Petterd 22/10/1918
Harry was born on 12/014/1898 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, and died from wounds received at Le Cateau-Cambrésis.
Prior the war, his occupation is listed as Carpenter.
On arrival in England further training took place at Larkhill on the Salisbury Plains in Wiltshire.
His brigade disembarked at Le Havre, France, on the 31/12/1916 and went into action on the 17/01/1917 at Armentieres.
They took part in the battles of Menin Road, Broodseinde, Passchendaele, Morlancourt, Mont St. Quentin, Messines and the Hindenburg Line.
On the 22/10/1918 the 27th Battery was located at a place called Bandival Farm, south of Le Cateau-Cambrésis in northern France.
The diary says:
"About 5 a.m. the enemy put down a strong Counter Preparation in expectation of our attack, searching well back among the battery areas.
Batteries remained silent during the day and proceeded with the carting of ammunition, which was completed by 8 p.m.".
German shelling during this action killed Harry and two others Australians, Dver Frank Terry and Bmb Vere Neville Baylis, all from the 27th Battery.
All three are buried in this cemetery.
