Thank you for recording details of my Great Uncle, Rifleman Geroge Eric Prior' buried at Ghissignies. His family never knew he had a grave. A photo would be wonderful please. Family legend says he had lied about his age to get into the War and survived until the week before the Armistice was signed. Because of his death I am Prior-Sankey. My mother told me all about her big brother whom she loved and missed very much.I am currently serving in the Royal Navy as a Petty Officer and am in France next year and would like to visit all the wargraves that contain my lost relatives from both wars for a sabatical which i very much need, and now i will be able to complete in peace now i have found the last one on my list.

In loving memory of my grandfather Henry Williams so tragically killed on the 1st December 1918 after the armistace was signed.Killed on his son Harry's tenth birthday. The words on his headstone in Ypres are in Welsh read "Ac ni bydd gofi mwy" translated "Let there be no more sorrow".His widow like many other World War 1 widows were then asked to send their son's to the second conflict.Gratefully both Henry's sons survived this.

In memory of J.F.W.(Jack)Holmes of the 'Birmingham Pals' (14th Bn/ Royal Warwickshire Regiment) who died of his wounds on the 31st August 1916 is buried at the La Neuville British Cemetery, Corbie (Somme).

Although he died over 90 years ago, he was and is still remembered by his family. I hope to visit the Somme next year and also Ypres, where his brothers also served.

My grandfather Percy Perren died when my mother Ivy was only 5 and her sister Ethel just 3. I am finally finding out a little about him and will visit his grave at the Gordon Dump Cemetery next year. I just want to say thank you to him and all the other men who gave up their lives in such terrible circumstances.

In memory of my uncle Private Albert Thomas Kitcher of the Gloucestershire Regiment killed in action on the 20/10/1918 aged 19 only weeks before the Armistace was signed, and is buried in Haussy Communal Cemetery. Rest in Peace uncle and i will hope to visit your grave and pay my respect one day.

My great uncle 2nd Lt. Leonard Carver is buried at Ayette British Cemetery. His brother Bernard survived into old age including 30 years in the Royal Navy including serving on HMS Duke of Edinburgh at the Battle of Jutland. He and his wife Winifred had two children Faith (my mum) and John.

Leonard died on 26th May 1918 serving in the Irish guards. RIP

My Uncle Raymond Benere was killed in France and burried in Belgium, which is quite interesting because the Benere's origionally came from Belgium to Canada. I think this was of some comfort to my grandma after Raymond was killed Uncle Leo and Uncle Willie were also in the war for much longer than Raymond, thankfully they returned.

At last I think I have found my great uncle Charles Arthur Hartley, died on 19th October 1918, only 20 years old, one of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Thank you for your website

Does any one have any information about a Lance Corporal John Jenkins of the Welsh Regiment, service number 54787, who died on the 4th September 1917, and is burried at Bard Hospital Belgium. I would like to know how he died, the movements of the troop around that time and anything else you can tell me about either this gentleman or his regiment. I believe this gentleman is my great grandfather, but as yet can not be one hundred per cent positive, if you are privy to any personal information about this gentleman, this may also help decide weather I have the correct person. My best friend's uncle, Second Lieutenant Raymond Cyril Le Tissier of the North Staffordshire Regiment - 2nd Bn. was killed in action on the 16th of May 1940. He is resting in the churchyard of Sint Bartholomeus Church at Korbeek-Dijle. I think he is the only member of the UK army there. We think he may have been 24 yrs old.
