The gravestone of Cpl G Sutton, Royal Signals is of particular interest to me. Graham and I served together at the Allied Signal Centre (ASC) in Margival in the early 60s. Graham was one of the few people in the camp who could afford a car - he and I had been for a day out in Rheims, in March 1964, returning to attend the afternoon meal back in camp. One of the other soldiers was holding a leaving party on camp and I had arranged to attend. Graham decided to go out again that evening. Sadly, he crashed his car and was killed. He was one of several soldiers from the camp who were killed in car crashes between 1963 and 1966. I left the camp for Germany just before France withdrew from NATO and the unit was moved to The Netherlands.

I have only just found this website and find it a useful link to my Grandfather John Gardner Hayes who was gunner in the 90th Hvy Bty Royal Garrison Artillery. He died of wounds on 4th October 1917.
I knew of the burial site before visiting Ypres in 2002 but only coincidently came across the enclosure whilst on a business trip. Since then I've visited his grave 3 times and plan to be there on 4th October 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of his death.
If anyone can supply facts about the 90th Hvy Btry RGA and where they were at that time I would be very grateful. Bob

My uncle, Leading Aircraftman James Francis McMaster 538667 is buried at Angoulins Communal Cemetery France. He died on the 25/06/1940 I take it for granted he was shot down as the RAF cant give me any information, it also states my uncle Jim was born in France, he was actually born in Belfast Esmond Street Shankill Road, they dont even know his Dob. His father was James McMaster who fought in the 1st world war with the Royal Irish Rifles, his Mother was Margaret, Brothers Harold, William, Sisters Evelyn, Susan and my Mother Elizabeth. I am trying to get my uncles birth certificate but I think it might have been destroyed, so I would be grateful if anyone else had some information.

Ray, I have just read your tribute to Geoffrey L Mills, is your Dad still alive ? You may be aware that he was honoured in a ceremony in France on 20/6/2007 in that town, and he is buried in Clichy. Surprisingly, I picked this up as I am a neighbour to his sister Betty, still alive. Betty was unaware as to what had happened to Geoffrey her older brother. He was shot down over Bois D'Arcy enrolee to bombing Acheres rail depot - I don't know if this will ever reach you, but it would be nice to connect the two of them perhaps ? Please contact me if any possibility. Betty is still in Walthamstow

I have just purchased the solid brass Somme 100 poppy lapel pin. It is in commemoration of Private 13317 Albert Key of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died on the first day of the fighting. In addition to the many others who lost their life whom we remember, we will now have a special place in our hearts for Albert. If anyone has any more history of Albert we would love to hear it.

Thank you so much Pierre for remembering my great Uncle Francis Samuel Langston who died with his crew in their Halifax on the 11th of April 1944. I know during the 1940´s his brother Harry spent many years trying to locate the crash location so it is amazing to see a photo of the actual plane. What a terrible loss of life all of them young fit men. I know they were on their way home from their mission when they got hit. My Great Uncle had only been married a few weeks. This summer we are going to visit his grave. It was a long time ago but he has not been forgotten.

I just saw my Fathers name & a few particulars concerning him. I, from, the bottom of my heart to the top of it, need to THANK You so much for adding his name to your list. I was 9 yrs. old when he died, so know very little about him. My siblings & myself lived in an orphanage here in Chatham Ont. Canada & not much contact with anyone in those days. I have friends that live in Bruggs near the cemetery in Adegem, their names are Margareite & Wilfreid Moore & they are so kind to take care of my Fathers gravesite as well they go to France & & also take care of my grandfather,s gravesite in Baeuiel France, he was my Fathers Father & died in WW1 on December 8, 1915. It is through the generous heart & soul that so many SOLDIERS are remembered by people like yourselves., Thank You from myself & my family, many Blessings always
