In memory of BERT WALTER BAKER grave 05 in the Landrecies communal cemetery. My Great uncle aged just 19 killed a week before Armistice, shot in an entry way. Beloved older brother of Richard and one of 13 children from Dudley Worcestershire (as it was). My grandfather shed a tear every Armistice service, as a child this made an impact on me. He never was able to visit his brothers grave but in 2008 my brother visited and paid his respects by laying a wreath on Remembrance Day. Thank you Great uncle and all who made the ultimate sacrifice. Memory Eternal.

12th April 1918 and buried in Barly French Military Cemetery. He was a loving father to his three daughters Sylvia, Dorothy (my grandmother), Gladys and his son Sidney. He is remembered by all his family.

My Great Uncle RONALD FRANCIS VAUGHAN service number 14387150 was killed in action 1/7/1944 at the tender age of 19, he served with the Welch Regiment and now rests at St Manvieu war cemetery, for some reason I have no information about but his big was dug up and buried there a little over a year after his death, would anybody know why this would be? He is in plot V11 row B grave 7 and was placed there 12/7/1945, my father visited his uncles grave 4 years ago but could not find any information, sadly he was killed last year so I'm trying to finish what he started, any information or photographs would be hugely appreciated, thanks. My grandparents went to their death believing he was in camp in Germany.
A family group was at his grave side on September 30th to mark his 100th anniversary.He was only 18

In memory of my Uncle Pte Boris Bramley Buckley Kings Own Lancaster regt killed in action 06 07 18. aged 19 yrs. I visited his grave at Pernes and was truly moved at the dignity of this place. All I know of my uncle is that he died after 3 day from wounds in the CCS at Pernes. I am not able to find out how he was wounded but I feel intensely proud of him and so sad I never knew him.

Im writing to remember Company Quarter-Master Sergeant John Treacy of the 5th Bat.Connaught Rangers who was wounded at the battle around Le Cateau on 18th October and died at Maurais France on 20th October 1918. A hundred years ago tomorrow.

Sadly due to ill health I am unable to travel to Maurais Communal Cemetary to pay my respects as had been my intention. He never saw Kilconnell or County Galway again but I imagine in his final hours his thoughts went back to happy times with his wife and infant daughter. May he rest in peace.

I will be visiting the graves on Saturday of ND-587 405 Squadron to lay a tribute on behalf of W Sinclair's daughter and finding out more information on the crew who he served with has certainly made the visit more poignant.

How glad I was to find the photograph of the 5 men who were murdered by S.S. soldiers who invaded the temporary POW camp and murdered the white men only. The camp also had South African coloured and Turks but they weren't touched. One American airman hid with the Turks and escaped and reached England to tell the story of the massacre.
I have put information on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial webpage for P/O Griffin Young. I will give credit for the photo. Thanks so much for your work.

Harold was in the army at the outbreak of the war, and in March 1915 was drafted to France, he was wounded three times.

My great Uncle John Arthur Brook was killed on the 28th September 1918. He is buried at Havrincourt British Cemetery. I will be visiting and paying my respects with some member of my family tomorrow exactly 100 years later 28th September 2018. RIP Uncle John, you died to save others

In memory of Emil Bawden Volbrecht of the South African Infantry Brigade who died on the 20/09/1917 during the attack on Borry Farm. Some years ago I purchased a book of the History of the South African Brigade (Buchan) that had been owned by Pvt. Volbrecht's parents - and in which annotationss had been made and flowers pressed. The grief and pride of his Mother Johanna was heartbreaking. I am honoured to have visited Pvt. Volbrechts grave in Perth Cemetry - and to have placed the flowers his Mother had pressed in his memory.
