I am the Great Nephew of Ernest Beeston MM - 2295 1/6th Liverpool Regiment buried at Beaumetz Les Loges. It was an honour to have been able to vist his grave last weekend - 28/02/09.

This is my great uncle it is nice to see that they arnt forgot and that the graves are kept so well.

What a lovely site to honour those that died for their country and now rest in Bertenacre. My grandfather, Private George Victor Skeet. MM of the 9th Battalion, Queens West Surrey Regiment who was killed on 18th August 1918 lies there with his comrades.

My great uncle, Alexander Stirling Cross is on your list. He was kille on 7 June 1917. He belonged to Scotland but was in the merchant navy and joined the army in New Zealand.

My great uncle William Garlick Neville was killed on the first day of the Somme - 1st July 1916 - and is buried at Redan Ridge Cemetary No 2 in Beaumont Hamel. It is lovely to see that he is remembered here. He came from Mortimer in Berkshire and was my grandad's younger brother. Before the war he was the postman for the village and a local bell ringer. He is also commemerated on the web page for the Central Council of Bellringers and on the war memorial in Mortimer. I would like to thank you for putting together this website and to say that we must never forget what our brave heroes did for us so that we can now live in peace.

Thank you for creating this site. I was able to learn a bit more about my Great Uncle Henry Phillip Aishford that died in Belgium on Sunday, April 23, 1916. The First World War was not something we spoke of when I was growing up, and as a result, I never really knew the details of his death. I still live in Swansea, Canada and I have learned that Henry was the first man from this small village to die in The Great War. I am proud of him.

This is an amazing website, which has helped me to locate a member of my family, thus enhancing my Genealogy Project. I was unprepared to find a picture of where my relative is buried.

Thomas Charles Yapp of the Welsh Fusiliers was laid to rest at BOIS-DES-ANGLES BRITISH CEMETERY, CREVECOEUR-SUR-L'ESCAUT on 8 October, 1918 - aged just 19 years.

The information which is given with his listing helps me piece my family history together. I shall look upon Rememberance Day with far greater passion, henceforth.

My great uncle, Pte Walter Thomas Smith of 1/8th Royal Warwickshire Regiment, died from wounds inflicted in action on 01.09.1917, many years before I was born. God rest his sole and that of my uncle Tom (RAF) 'm inissing presumed killed' in WW2, resting place 'somewhere in Germany'.

Have just noted the VC Corner Cemetery and Memorial details on IN MERMORy. Pierre, congratulations on the website: it is a sound idea, and you have obviously put a considerable amount of work into its development.

I am interested in this particular cemetery and have been working toward encouraging the British and Australian governments (in conjunction with the CWGC), to identify all unknown Great War burials related to the Battle of Fromelles which was launched on 19 July 1916.

Thank you Pierre for all of your hard work putting together this fantastic site and thanks to you, I have just found my Great Uncle Victor Seaton Bradley's gravesite.
Uncle Victor was born in Southport, Tasmania, Australia and moved to New Zealand to work with his brothers in the timber industry.
He joined The New Zealand Rifle Brigade 12th Reinforcements 1st Battalion, E Company and embarked on 11th October 1916.
He was killed in Belgium on 18th. June 1917

My late fathers brother Sydney William Hobin is buried here. he was only 20 years old when he fell in battle, he was a bandsmen and should only really have been stretcher bearing but was called to the front lines and like all the others fell in battle. I am 66 years old in 2009 and will try to make the trip to this cemetary to lay the flowers my father never got to do.

my grand mothers brother , herbert francis haskell is buried at les baraques military cemetary, im trying to find his plot, i know the coordinates but can not find a clear layout of the cemetary , can any one help.i have the only photograph of bert as my nan called him, she was only young when he was killed , she missed him to the day she passed away, you can see his photo on www.findagrave.com under herbert francis haskell , you should be able to copy and save the photo and use it,

Thank you for this wonderful site. I was able to find my great grandfather Private S. Moryoseph of the Manchester Regiment. He and William Thomas Collins (of the same Regiment) both died on 2/4/1917. I have visited the grave and I am thankful for the beautiful condition of the Cambrin Military Cemetery. If anyone has any information about my great grand father or his friend i would be greatful. I have my own pictures of the Cemetery if anyone is interested. Thank you.

I thank you for posting the WW1 Graves information. I was able to locate my Great Uncle, David Cushingham. I am currenlty working on my family history for my children, and finding such a memorial is very heartfelt. Thank you for your efforts.

My fathers brother died in France in 1916.My father was only six years old at the time.Dad never knew where he was buried or what had become of him.All my life I've wondered and at last I have found him.Now I hope that one day I will visit his grave for my Dad who passed away in 1989.God bless him and all the others who gave their lives.

What a fantastic site.

I was a 19 year old lance corporal in the British Army when i found my Great Uncles Memorial in Nieuport. Private 242550 Ambrose Murrell was 19 when he died at the third battle of ypres on 16th August 1917.

May he and all those who gave their lives rest in peace

If anyone can tell me any more how and where he died I would be eternally gratefull.

In A Corner Of A Foreign Field....

I have recently discovered that my Grandmother's half- brother is buried at Moulin de Pierre cemetery in France Nord. He was John Kirby 15th Battalion Welsh Regiment 72878. I have a large framed photograph of him and I will get a copy of this. I am determined to visit his Grave and place a family memorial of him after all these years. He died on 8/10/18 in the second battle of Cambrai. thank- you Pierre for your very detailed site. It must have taken so long to put together. Mary Paterson Penarth. Wales.

My great uncle Edgar died from wounds on 5 November, 1918 the day after being shot by sniper fire during the Battle of the Sambre . He was a lieutenant with the 5th West Riding Duke of Wellington's Regiment.
Edgar, from Keighley in West Yorkshire, was the younger son of John and Mabel Clapham. He joined the local Territorial Regiment in October 1914, and he received his commission in January 1917, being gazetted to the rank of lieutenant in August 1918.
Edgar is burried in Awoingt British Cemetery, near Cambrai.
When I retire I hope to pay a visit to his grave.

Recent research has revealed that my great uncle John Bellamy 26855 Pvt Kings Own Royal Lancaster regiment died of wounds 15th January 1918 near Arras is buried in Duisans cemetery, plot V.E. 34 . John was, according to the 1st battalions war diary, one of five casualties following an H.E. and gas shelling attack on the night of the 15th January whilst the battalion were digging new reserve trenches.

A photo of his grave would be fantastic and would add to the testimony that I am writing for my family and in particular my Father, Thomas John who is John's nephew.

I am researching mu great uncle Harry Jukes who died in1917 and is buried at this cemetary. He served with the Royal Garrison Artillery 303 Siege Battery. I believe his brother Frederick Jukes joined the same unit but his records were destroyed in 1940.
