Thank you for this guestbook. We have lost three Great Uncles in the Great War and a search on this website has identified two, William Brown, buried at Honnechy Cemetery and Andrew Brown buried at Brandhoek Cemetery, with Thomas Brown buried at Gaza. I am going over to visit them this year, accompanied by my Sister and my second Cousin. Cant wait to pay my respects and visit their graves.

I was allocated the name of Royal Scots Fusiliers Private T F Lochiel in an appeal through the British Legion for Every Man Remembered 1914- 1918. He was buried in your cemetery, and I found details on your really great website, which I did not manage either on the HM Forces page or the one for his regiment. I have traced his birth details through Scotlands People, as I have been building my family tree through them for some years. Private Lochiel was born on 20th June
1892 in Bannockburn in Stirlingshire, and named Thomas Forbes. I hope some family connection may remain .

For 97 years a great-grandfather I never knew, or have ever seen a photograph of, has lain in the bosom of France surrounded by his fellow Brothers-in-Arms. Thank you France for taking such great care of 5137 Pte Jack Sullivan 56Bn (late 3rd ALH Bde), AIF. As the last remaining direct descendent of Jack, I look forward to the day I can stand at his grave and salute his supreme sacrifice. Lest We Forget.

GunnersFarm was the name of my maternal grandmothers homestead in WW1 Surrey,England. Two of her brothers are buried in France due to WW1 and the other lost a leg, and one was a prisoner of war. Your cemetery's name intrigued me. Is there a connection to my maternal grandmother's family, or just a coincidence.

My grandfathers eldest brother, William Charles Lovett is buried in Duisans Cemetery - I am researching our family tree. He died on 21.6.1917 and was a Sergeant Major in the York and Lancaster Regiment. I am not sure is III L46 shows his resting place or not. I can trace no family photos of him - he never married and my grandfather died even before I was born. Is there a way of getting a photograph of his resting place? My aunt who is in her 70's is closer related than me - this would have been her Uncle. She cannot get to France to visit his grave, something I hope to do.

My ambition in the next 12 months is to visit Brie esp row E. 11. Where my great grandad is buried. I have a lot of his war letters and pictures and just need to visit the grave. Lovely to see them kept so well.

My great uncle is listed on your site, I have very little information about him other than his name and that he died on the lancastria so to see him listed as buried here, Hunt Lewis Vincent (21) Pte 17 Field Bakery RASC (Pf) S/114695 makes me feel happy that he is able to rest in peace.
These brave men can't be forgotten.
If you have a photo of his grave I could show his sister, my gran, I know it would mean a lot to her to know he and his final resting place is being looked after.
Thank you.

Hi, I have finally found my Great Uncle Jack's grave no. 339 and will be visiting next year with my sister as it was always my late dad's wishes to go and see his grave and no-one from the Williams family has ever been. My mum also has the last letter he wrote to my grandmother and we are certain that he knew he would not return home. Thank you so much for your website - just need to do some research as to how he died. K Lynch (formerly Williams and proud of it!)

I have been trying to track down my great father for years. And found him here. His daughter - my grandmother was taken in by Barnardo's homes after his death, and she was then sent to Australia aged 14 years from England. Very little known about my grandmothers family. He had four daughters.

Message for Hilary King in response to request for information on Frederick William Hill. Hilary, my name is Trevor Hill, and my grandfather is John Coish Hill, brother of Frederick William Hill. We believe you are married to Roger King and descendant from Montague and Doreen Millman and your grandmother is Susan Millman (nee Hill) who was Frederick's sister. I am your second cousin. Frederick Hill left his mum and dad (Frederick Walter Hill and Ellen Hill) in Truro in about 1913. He worked and enlisted in St Ives and then went off to the Somme and finally Ypres. We think he was killed in a gas attack. We can't find his name on a Cornish memorial? Please call me on 01823 271333. We would dearly like to see his picture.

HEWITT A
United Kingdom Private 17367 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry died Houplines 06/12/1915 Age: 29 and buried in Cite Bon Jean cemetery in grave IX. D. 88.
The recent release in UK of WW1 casualties wills has enabled me to piece together information about my great uncle Alfred (Hewitt) and discover his omission from the local church Memorial Roll and War Memorial. This will be rectified in the near future. On Sunday 10th November 2013 my wife and I were invited to a church service where Alfred's name was read out for the first time. We also marched to the war memorial and placed a cross there in his honour. After 98 years we are delighted to be able to mark his sacrifice and also hope to visit his grave as soon as possible.
In honour of Pvt Albert Hewitt.
