Lance Corporal Joseph Wilson. Killed 25/8/1914.
I am particularly interested in this soldier and his story of been executed by a German Firing Squad, thus saving the life of a child who had been accused of sniping.

I am looking for information on a Free French airman who was killed in a mid-air collision with another Free French airman over my home village in North East England. He was on a training flight with 80 OTU and was killed on 13th December 1945 - after the War had ended. His body was sent home and buried in BOURVILLE-TONNEVILLE Churchyard, Seine-Maritime, France which I think is near Dieppe. I would like some information about the man - Sgt Jacques J B Lemonnier - a photograph of him if possible and a photograph of his grave. Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Just wanted to say thank you to my granddad I never met,SAMUEL ANDREW BRANDON He gave his life on this day. He was a paratrooper and was shot dead before he landed. United Kingdom Corporal Parachute Regiment A.A.C. 12th (10th Bn. The Green Howards [Yorkshire Regt.]) Bn. Age: 23 Date of Death: 06/06/1944. Thank you granddad and to all who gave their life on this day not so long ago.

Visited the grave of my great uncle Frederick R Rookyard at Hébuterne Military Cemetery today (30-05-2019 at 10.45). I was in company with my daughter Rebecca (great great niece). I remember when I was a young choirboy I first noticed the name on a church plaque (All Saints Wetheringsett) and wondered if he (Fred) was related. I did ask but not much was said in the 1950s or perhaps thought not suitable for young ears. I have made enquiries over the years but didn’t seem to get anywhere until last year on a website (Flickr) tracked him down. So on the way back from holiday in France today took a detour, I thanked him for his courage and life so we could have a future and the Rookyard’s still remember. In remembrance of Edward Facer from Brewarrina NSW, my uncle that I never met. My Mother held him in her memory all her life. I visited his grave and broke into tears - for a life lost and for a sister who mourned. Rest in peace on this Anzac Day 2019.

My Great-Uncle, James Albert AHERN is interred at Pernois Cemetery. On the 100th Anniversary of his passing, 27th April 2018, I visited his War Grave. This was a long-time dream and also honoured a promise to my Mother (niece of James Ahern) that I would visit his grave. My name is Donna Cox and my husband’s name is Howard Cox. We live in Campbellville, Ontario, Canada and we are writing to you in the hopes of helping us to find someone in charge of the Seraincourt Church. My husband’s Uncle, Gordon Kenneth Young, formerly from Stratford, Ontario, Canada, a RCAF Warrant Officer is buried in the Seraincourt Churchyard with his crew who were shot down in their Wellington Airplane in World War II. In fact, the whole crew of the plane, all eight crew members, are buried in this Churchyard.

We are planning to visit France for the first time on March 24 to 25 and are thinking of coming to visit his grave. Gordon Kenneth Young’s sister, Doris Marilyn (Young) Cox is still alive and will be 90 next week and we would love to be able to visit the Church and to bring her pictures back of her brother’s grave.


If you can either help me with this request or give me the email or telephone number of the person in charge of the Church so that I can arrange with him/her to be able to access the grave, I would be very grateful.

Went and found my Great Grandfather's grave.
L/7824 Pte George Brown Killed in Action 7th June 1915.

I never knew him but just visiting his grave gave me such a warm feeling and I felt a bond. We visited in October 2018, and will be returning.

Remembering with pride two young men from 107 sqn who gave their lives for their country patrick green left behind a 3 month old son, who grew up never knowing his father
Patrick had already lost his older brother who was killed on air operations returning from Cologne 31/5/42 15 OTU

On December 11th Grégoire, William and Amaury with their grand parents Mary & Patrick honored the grave of H. Pearce in the cemetery of the Cinq Rues in Hazebrouck. Harry Pearce was my great uncle, brother of my grandfather. Both
Grégoire and William had school lessons on World War One and the 100 year end anniversary.

Hi. My Great Uncle George Thomas Kirk is buried in Quievy. My Brother and I are researching him and have found out a bit about him. He was my Nan's eldest Brother and she never really spoke about him although when she died, we found his pictures, penny, letters from the home office etc. We went over to Quievy in October on the 100th anniversary of his death and are planning to visit again in 2019. I know you concentrate on Commonwealth graves, but I have been trying to find all the burial locations of the Doughboys who dies from my little town of Roselle Park, N.J. I have just discovered that Dr. John Edward WIlliams, who dies of typhoid fever on Sept. 3, 1918, was buried in in "Grave 20, French Communal Cemetery, Chaumont-en-Bassigny, Haute-Marne, France, in the family vault of widow. Chaumont." This is according to his burial card. The burial card is stamped "Grave released to N.R. special case."

I'd like to obtain a copy of this family vault, and see if Dr. Williams' burial in the vault can be confirmed. I'd be happy yo cover any costs involved. I don't wantany of our WWI dead to be forgotten.

Hi. I visited the grave of my Gt uncle Joseph with my son on Armistice day Nov 2018 at 11 am. I was hoping that the local church / commune at Templeux-le-Guerard may have organised some centennial commemoration. Sadly, the cemetery was deserted. However, I'm glad that Joseph's story has been handed down to the next generation and is in good hands.
