Pierre, found your website and was overjoyed to see you had a picture of my great-uncle Pte. Thomas Kilcullen 1707, Black Watch who is buried at Rue-David Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, Pas-de-Calaise, France, posted under the pictures of the cemetery . I visited last July from Scotland with other family members and we left flowers and a copy of Thomas' picture (I think the one that you have used) and a copy of a remembrance inserted into the Dundee People's Journal in March 1916 by Thomas' family, a year after he was killed in action. Thank you for doing this. Thomas was my maternal grandfather's brother, now Thomas will never be forgotten. It was very moving to visit the cemeteries and I will be returning. They are beautifully kept. Such brave men. Regards from Scotland.

I would love to have a close up photograph of my great-uncle's grave stone if at all possible. His name is W.E.Green, a private in Welsh regiment 18th Bn. Service number 53794. My husband and I were the first members of my great uncle's family to visit the cemetery of his enterrment. We visited this August, 2009. He was killed Sept. 2, 1918. My great grandad was killed in action on either 24th or 29th Dec 1914 - Cornelius Bamford was his name. I have this service records, but dont really know what happened to his, if he was buried in the grave yard before it was destroyed or anything. One day I wouldlike to visit.

Remembering my grandfather Henry Stevenson Ewan killed in the 1WW lies in Ixelles Elsene Communial Cemetry, Belgium. It is nice to see the graves so cared for thank you once again.

My grandfather was John Swindle, Rifleman, Royal Irish Rifles, aged 24 killed in action May 29th, 1917 near Ypes. He is buried in Pond Farm Cemetery and left a widow and 3 children. The youngest was just 2 and was my mother. She never knew her dad. It was her dearest wish to visit the grave, but after we came to Canada she never made her dream come true.

Last year, my husband and I had the privilege to visit the cemetery and pay our respects. The cemetery (like all the ones we visited) were very beautiful and the graves very well-kept. Outside the walls, however, the fields were a sea of mud - do doubt similar to the conditions in which he died.

New Zealand Driver 9/1995 New Zealand Army Service Corps died 29/10/1918 and buried in Awoingt British Cemetry, II. E. 11 I just thought I would share a few things about him with you. Allan was born in Christchurch on 28th March 1893 to parents Samuel and Sarah-Jane Vogan both Irish immigrants to New Zealand. He was from a large family being the 7th Child and the only male to live. He was just 21 when he was shot and fatally wounded. He was survived by his wife Myrtle and son Sidney Glen. My father (his only child) was about 18mths old when his father went to war, so has no memory of his own of his father only what was told to him by Aunts and Grandparents. I would like to thank you for your web page and your time and patience in gathering this information for people like myself. It is nice to know that although i was never able to meet my grandfather in person I am able to find out where he is resting and that he is so well looked after.

My mums dad we are stil trying to find out about him and even where they came from. We think it was Tingewike in Oxfrdshire and he was a farmer. His widow died in November 1918 in the flu epidemic .
Nothing for the orpans in those days thrown into the workhouse until they were old enough to work then fostered out as servants and treated like dirt. No land fit for heroes then or now i am afraid to say.

Only just found out where my Grandad died. We knew it was in Belgium but we now know where,
He was sapper Cornelius Airley of Dalbeattie in Kirkcudbrightshire in Scotland. He was a Builder and Stone Mason also a Chimeny sweep .
We now have a connection with the place he died unfortunatly due to ill health i will never get to visit the grave,

Looks like i have found my Great Uncle Vincent Baker,we have no pictures of him.Would you know where i could get one in his uniform and maybe some information on him and what happened.

Tracing my Family Tree and i was told that all that was left of this man was his watch.sad but there you go.war.

Vincent's ancestors were German who came to Ireland in 1709 (1700 people called the palatines arrived here) to get away from the problems that were caused by wars in europe etc.

Churchyett Arthur Private 21295 Worcestershire regiment 15.08.1917 W.4 My great great grandfather. I visited his last resting place at the end of August 2009 with my wife 5yr old son 2yr old daughter. He was my mothers grandad, her mom Edith's father, she was only 8yrs when he was killed. She never spoke of her sad loss. I have a photo i will email you, to put up on the site. On page 1 of the guestbook my mothers cousin Athony Hope has left a message, 3yrs ago. I have been trying to contact him, but unfortunatley no luck as yet.

Thanks for your site. Patrick Cogan is my Great Uncle. He was badly wounded at a farm in March 1918 and given care in the Le Cateau military hospital. When he died he was buried with honours. Some of the late Germans were conscripted monks and we remember them in November

I was lucky to do a Battle Field tour in Mar 2004 where I was able to visit my Great Great Uncle, 7993 PTE Philip Louis Le Boydre of the 16th Battalion. I have only one regreat, that I did not know about the visitors log near the entry. I intend to return with my children and give them the opportunity to visit such a well maintained memorial to our loved ones and to help his memory live on in us.

In Loving memory of my Great Uncle, Robert Tunstall Lord. 19years old. 50758 Somerset Light Infantry. Died 21/10/1918 With kind research, recorded as being killed, thought to have died at the Ferm de bovenuille, after German shelling, and has no known grave. May he be at rest.

In memory of my great uncle Private Alexander Edwin Norman 17776 2nd battalion Duke of Edinburgh's Wiltshire Regiment.He was born in East Ham Essex May 1896 and died of his wounds at the Battle of the Somme on 21st July 1916 aged 21.He is buried in the Commonwealth War graves at Abbeville cemetery. May he rest in peace-he will never be forgotten.
I visited his grave in August of this year-the only family member to ever do so since his death. It was very poignant. The cemetery is beautifully kept, and is in a peaceful location just outside the town. Many thanks for the loving care of the local people who maintain these graves, who have obviously never forgotten the courageous sacrifices these young men made in the name of freedom.God bless them all.

I found on your site the gravesite of my great grandfather who was killed in 1917 at Somme. My great grandmother spend all he life looking for him ( as he was listed as missing in action) until her death in 1950.

I will be paying a visit to France within the next 2 years to visit his place of reas.

My grandfather Richard Brannick is buried at the cemetary. I have been searching for the war memorial in Manchester that bears his name for quite some time, it was only by chance that I came across your website.
